Vegas Vacation Costs

I know that going on vacation to Las Vegas can be pretty expesive. Though I was hoping that those who have been there a couple of times would be willing to share some great tips on how to save a little bit of money?

I know that there has to be ways to save money even when your standing in the middle of the gambling capital of the world. I was just hoping that everyone here would be willing to help by sharing some of their tips and ideas.

Everyone is going to waste money on those gaming tables and at those slot machines. Though I was wondering how are some ways to save on room rates, dining, shopping and things like that?

Any tips that you list I am sure would be appreciated by everyone who want to take a Vegas vacation or even those who have already been there.

We all know that what we can save on things like rooms, food, personal items and so on is just all the more that everyone will be able to add to those slot machines in the end...LOL.

We just started running specials that absolutely rock! These are comps for first time visitors. Where else can you find a Hotel/Casino room for $27? Plus free meals for the kids?

Or look at the New York New York special - low rates plus food, shows, spa... and more. What else can you want?

Vegas is more inexpensive right now than it has ever been, and our new comps are just super.

Wow those are some really great prices, I never would have thought of saving that much money in Las Vegas would be possible. Thanks for the great information.

Though I do have one silly question. What exactly are "comps" and how do you get them?

I have never been to Las Vegas yet, though I am really wanting to go. I am completely blonde when it comes to things such as comps.

I have heard of people talking about comps, as well as I have seen posts here about them as well, though I have never seen anyone explain what they are and how to get them. I sure would appreciate any information reguarding Comps that you or anyone can offer.

I have never been to Las Vegas either but here is my understanding of comps... hopefully I am right lol.

Basically comps are "deals" that you get from hotels and casinos for staying with them and spending your money at their places. If I am not mistaken, I think they offer you better comps the more you stay at their hotel and spend at their casino.

I am sure I didn't cover it all but I think thats the gist of it.

Maybe someone else can jump in here and help out lol.

The more you visit a place the more "comps" you get. You can even get comps on the same trip, if your there for the weekend, or week and you frequent the same hotel, or casino i think? you can ask for some special deals which in a way is a "comp".

If I am wrong, send me to my corner without dinner....again! LOLL

comp is short for complimentary. in other words, free. the more you play the more they offer. usually they are a "reward" for loyalty. sometimes they are offered before you play as a hook to get you in the door. usually your best offers will come after your first visit to a new property. they want you back. after a few trips your comps are determined by what they call an adt score. they use a formula to determine your theoretical loss. they usually go by your last 6 visits. when you get to a certain point all rooms, meals, tickets, limos, airfare, etc., are comped. they dont want anything distracting you from your play. remember though that there is no free ride in vegas. my "free" rooms and such have been paid for a thousand times over in losses. i have wonderful hosts who will kiss my feet to keep me playing. they are all nice people and i have developed some great friendships with some of them. i always remember though that they have one job. separate me from my money. they are modern day bandits. they use a smile and a few nice gestures instead of a gun. like i said there are some wonderful people out there but you can bet if my money dried up they would never talk to me again...

That's a good way to put it 1819; modern day bandits.

Steeling your money with a smile on their face.

But overall, it's still fun to go there and blow your hard earned dollars just for the experience and to make new friends in the process.

So, it kinda evens out in the long run. You spend your money to make friends and have fun doing it.

very true. gambling/gaming can be a very socially rewarding experience. many times i like to be left alone and unwind but other times i like to be in the mix. alot of those hosts i have followed from property to property and coast to coast. im sure ive put some of their kids through school. lol. i do stay in touch with a couple who are no longer in the gaming industry. there are some sharks out there but there are some who have the "old school" mentality. the ones who last the longest find the perfect balance between the property and the player. keep both happy and you'll have a good career. give one or the other too much and you wont have a job very long...
