My first experience at a casino was when I was young, too young to play.
Our father decided to do a little gambling when we were passing through Las Vegas.
He stopped at a casino and went inside for about 15 minutes and played a slot machine by a window, where he could watch us, his 4 children, in the car.
When he stopped playing, he walked up to one of the floor people and talked to them, and then came outside and then drove to another casino.
I think this one was the Golden Nugget, which he found a window seat again so he could watch us.
And I think he came here because it had bathrooms, and us kids had to go shortly after we arrived.
I remember walking in holding my dad's hand and looking around at all the people.
So much noise for my small ears. Bells ringing, money dropping, and all those flashing lights everywhere.
I was mesmerized by it all, and it felt like a dream to me.
We walked outside and it was quiet again. I was shell-shocked.
I got back into the car and just sat there staring through car window at the casino window, and all the machines, people, and lights going on inside.
And finally fell asleep.
