Default Will Gas prices Effect Las Vegas Tourism?

Do you think the rising fuel prices will have a bad effect on Las vegas tourism? I am thinking that it probably will and at a time when things were starting to pick up nicely.

Many places are seeing gas prices well over $4 per gallon for just regular unleaded. And it's only going to get worse.

That not only effects people who travel to Las Vegas by car but people who take buses and airplanes as well. They will have to jack up ticket prices to compensate for the rise in fuel costs.

Quote:
As prices at the gas pump continue to spike, forcing Americans to empty their pockets to fill their tanks, a pricey vacation is often the first thing cut from the family budget.
I imagine lots of people will have no choice but to put their Las Vegas trips on hold because they won't be able to afford it. What a shame. It's definitely not what Las Vegas needs right now.

I rather doubt that it will effect tourism there. One reason for that is because there isnt a real significant drop in vacationers even when gas prices go up.

The length of stay may be cut a little and the amount of gambling money may decrease somewhat, but in the long run, I think that there will be just as many tourists in Vegas as always.

If I had planned a trip to Vegas for this summer, I wouldnt let gas prices deter me. I have a better chance of airport security detering me from an intended trip out to Vegas than the gas prices would.

I know what you are saying. I just wonder though if they will be jacking up the bus and cab fares because of the price of gas.

I'm already feeling it here at home with the jump in gas. It's $3.47 right now. I've already spent almost $80.00 just this week going to and from work and taking kids to baseball/softball practice. If this continues, I won't be able to afford it. I don't know if the kids will be able to play ball. That much for gas money just isn't in the budget.

Hopefully prices drop but I heard they could be as high as $5.00 a gallon by summer here in Ohio. Probably higher elsewhere.

Yeah, the price of gasoline is almost at $4 a gallon here in South Carolina and I expect it to reach that by this coming weekend.

Just a week ago gas was around $2.90 a gallon and since then gasoline has gone up to an extra dollar per gallon.

I think the price of gas will effect Las Vegas tourism for those who drive from, lets say California.

Unless people have a good paying job and they can put money asside for a trip or vacation, via a vehicle, then there will be less traveling on the highways this coming Summer.

It's gonna be just aweful.

And think about people who have part-time jobs. They have the same commute as full-time employees but only get half the hours and half the pay. How are they going to be able to afford the gas.

This has to be the worst timing for higher gas prices with people just getting incomes stabilized. It's going to effect everyone in a bad way.
