Default Would like to know Utilities Costs

I am trying hard to sell my home in Utah and move to Las Vegas for warmer weather. I could probably afford a smaller home about 1200 to 1500 sq. ft. How much is the costs for gas, electric and water about? Thanks

This little chart shows the average cost per month for an 1800 to 1900 sq ft home.

You could probably add about $200+ per month for electricity to that amount, especially during the summer months when the air conditioning is running.

And then there's the cable bill, which will cost anywhere from $50 to $200 per month.

But, to pay $300 per month for basics is not bad if you're just starting out in Vegas (excluding the electric bill).

Actually those figures are a lot cheaper than here in Ohio. But of course we have long cold winters too.

Since she would be buying a smaller home than the one described, it may not cost that much more for electricity as she wouldnt be cooling a larger home.

I will try to find out what basic cable in Las Vegas runs and let you know.

When I moved into this house many years ago the cost of living was slightly lower, but a year later I had to think about dropping my cable back to basic cable.

Then I met my future wife about the same time and she gave me the money to keep my current cable channels (yeah I know, that was sweet of her).

Cable offers available in Vegas are Time Warner, Cox, ComCast, Charter, and Mediacom.

Most current package offers include the following.

That chart is fairly accurate. For 1200 sqft to 1500sqft I would have estimated $250mo.

The chart includes electricity. Its labeled "Nevada power". In the summer it will go up but gas will go down so its not that big of a jump.

Thank you for the help LVrealestateHELP. Living in a large home around Las Vegas is not a bad deal at all then.

I'm glad you pointed that out, it went right over my head.
Electricity on the east coast costs twice the amount as it does in the Las Vegas area; if that chart is a current one.

Thanks for the additional information. And actually, my electricity here in Ohio is slightly cheaper than that per month. Everyone once in a great while it will be slightly higher but thats when its either extremely hot or extremely cold here.

Its the extra running of the furnace or air conditioner that drives the cost of my electric bill up.
