Airport Waiting Time

As you all already know I have never flown before, though that might be changing here in the future (sadfully).

Any way I am wondering how long should a person plan on spending in an airport when going through security and everything else there?

I know the wait times will differ from airport to airport and the level of security that an airport has.

I am wanting to know this because I may be flying to Vegas in the future, well in a few months unless something changes, but I am a smoker and I am wondering how long I will be stuck in there with out a cigarette mostly.

I know that is a horrible thing to think about but if my rear is going to be climbing into an airplane where I may possibly never walk out I would at least not have to do it all with a craving for a cigarette.

I haven't flown yet either thank goodness. The thought sends chills up my spine. My daughter is leaving for Europe in one month though and she has to be at the airport three hours prior to take off. I don't know if it's different for domestic flights or not.
