Default Don't Walk the Las Vegas Highways

My very very best piece of advice for anyone going to Las Vegas is to not walk the highways!

Three pedestrians have been hit by vehicles this week alone on I-15 near the Las Vegas strip.

Today a man tried to cross the south bound lane and was struck by a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Just yesterday a man was struck crossing the highway but he didn't make it. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead.

On May 20th yet another man was trying to cross the highway when he was hit and killed as well.

Listen... pay the taxi fare, bus fare whatever you gotta do. Rent a limo. Just don't try to cross the highways on foot! This week has certainly proven what a bad idea that is.

As I have mentioned before my old man's parents are planning a trip to Vegas and they have been telling me about how they walk here and there all of the time.

Though I am now thinking that this is a BAD idea. I am gonna have to bring this up to them because I want them to return in one piece safe and sound.

It probably isn't a good idea for them to try this anyway because his Mom is still recovering from surgery and has for the last few weeks been extremely tired and not moving very quickly, so her trying to walk any where in Vegas isn't a good idea.

Thanks for the heads up on all of this. I knew I have read about others getting hit by cars in Vegas, but it seems that the problem is getting even more serious.

For most places you can walk without typically being concerned about getting struck by a vehicle. Tell them just not to try and cross a highway. Thats where the problems lie.

They are going in July you said? I hope they have an awesome and safe time!

Yes they are heading out at the end of July and will return at the beginning of August.

Though from what they tell me they like to walk just about every where they go, so hopefully after hearing this they decide not to do this.

It does have me worried. Also as I mentioned his Mom hasn't been feeling well since her surgery and that too has me concerned.

I want them to have a really good time and return safely. I told them about this so hopefully they will take the warning and make sure that they don't walk the highways at all.

Ive been in Vegas several times and have seen that traffic and wouldnt cross a street there for anything. It doesnt even look safe.

I will stick to the side of the street my hotel is on or get a cab to take me elsewhere. Better to pay a little money than to get creamed by a car.

Oh, one piece of advice for going to Las Vegas in the summer months, stay indoors!

My wife and I visited in June and the temperatures got up to 120 degrees!

That's something we stayed out of as much as possible and when we did walk across the street, our shoes would stick to the pavement on the crosswalk...
Very Hot in Las Vegas during the summer.

If they do plan on walking around a lot, make sure you tell them to try to walk through the casinos to stay cool.

They will need to get a humidifier for their room, have them check the front desk during check-in to get one sent up. It makes a big difference for keeping the room comfortable.

Any extras they plan on having in their room, they should ask for during check-in at their hotel.

OMG I cannot imagine dealing with that heat! I have been whining about our 90 degree weather here all week! It's not so much the heat but the humidity on top of it that makes it really bad.

I imagine 120 degrees with humidity or not is bad either way!

Don't try to wear flip flops crossing those streets. You'd probably get stuck!
