Default Record Lows to Bring in the New Year

Las Vegas is expecting some pretty cold air to bring in the New Year. Or maybe I should say Vegas is expecting very cold air to bbbrrrring in the New Year! The National Weather Service is predicting a low of 28 degrees for New Years morning.

They actually set a record for today, New Years Eve. Their high today was just 38 degrees, thats well below their previous record of 45 degrees set back in 1975.

It's just really hard to imagine Las vegas being that cold!

Heck it's warmer where I live right now in Ohio!

Quote:
Skies should be clear to watch fireworks tonight, but a storm system is expected to move into the area Sunday and bring a 20 percent chance of rain late Sunday night and Monday.

In the meantime, weather officials recommend residents prepare their homes for the freeze by wrapping pipes and keeping plants and pets indoors.

Visitors and locals who plan to ring in the new year outdoors should wear warm layers of clothing and limit alcoholic beverages, the weather service said.
Brrrrrr!

It was sunny and beautiful outside of my house today. It was in the 50's!

That has to be quite a disappointment for everyone who thought they would be able to spend New Years in a place that was warmer than home.

But the weather sure wont dampen the New Years spirits of all the celebrants that were in Vegas last night.

No I am sure that din't stop anyone from partying! I am sure they all put enough "anti-freeze" into their bodies in the form of alcohol to have not felt the cold too much!! As a matter of fact I read somewhere today that they were still cleaning up the streets this evening from all of the partying!

Well, Las Vegas is getting snow again today and its suppose to turn into snow/rain later on.

Las Angeles is being hammered with rain lately and the same systems work their way up to Las Vegas.
It looks like Las Vegas will be getting more snow and rain for the next day or so.

I know what y'all mean about the parties not stopping because of weather.
I remember when I was young, and rain, snow, sleet or hail wouldn't have stopped me from going to a party.
