Default Palazzo Being Sued Over Name

The Palazzo Design Corp. located in Texas is suing Las Vegas Sands Corp. owner of the Palazzo hotel-casino in Las Vegas because of what they say is a trademark infringement.

Apparently The Palazzo sells t-shirts and other items in the gift shop bearing the Palazzo Design Corp's protected mark.

Quote:
“Like many hotels and resorts, the properties contain gift shops and souvenir shops, which sell items which have the hotel names on them. This is done primarily to advertise the Venetian and Palazzo properties,'' said the lawsuit, filed by attorneys Deanna Forbush and Lyssa Anderson of the Las Vegas firm Fox Rothschild LLP.
Quote:
“It has come to our client's attention that the Palazzo casino is marketing and selling shirts, hats and other apparel bearing (Palazzo Design's) protected mark,” wrote attorney E. Randall Smith of the Houston law firm Jones & Smith LLP, which specializes in intellectual property law including patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets.
One would think that the t-shirt maker would be happy that the hotel/casino is buying these items and reselling them, getting their name out there and making them money as well.

Everyone just wants a big piece of the pie. Thats why the world is how it is today.

People as well as companies are always on the look out these days for a way to sue someone for what ever reason they can come up with. It is seriously sad but that is how the world is gong right now and it doesn't look like it is going to change any time soon.

I hope that this mess gets all straightened out with out things getting to far out of hand.

I have to agree that you would think that the texas company would love having their mark out there in the world gaining free advertisements, but instead they simply think this is a good reason to sue a hotel and get some quick cash rolling in.
