Default Re: Sahara Hotel Casino Closing on the Strip

As a good offer of the dump as Sahara is it is sad to ascertain it close. That's as well bad it's closing. this could be primarily a signal of how bad factors are.

I'm glad I have seen it from the inside several time. (I got out of the Monorail at Sahara station many times, walked through the Sahara on my way to the T-shirt shop across the street or the Stratosphere. Also met a collegue at the bar last year. He was travelling the South-West with his wife and I was at Vegas the same time. He sent me a text message and because he stayed at the RV area near Circus-Circus we met at the Sahara. As I said before, memories, memories......
Yeah, I bet there are a lot of memories for people who have stayed at the Sahara.

I got a few picures of it a few years ago and had planned on visiting them on my next trip over to Vegas, but that's not going to happen now.

There are only a couple older casinos left in Las Vegas. It would be nice if they would hold on to them or make a musium out of one and show people how Las Vegas has moved forward from the past.

Found this on Wikipedia:

On November 2, 2011 it was revealed that the Clark County Commission has approved renovations of the hotel casino. The property will be remodeled, rethemed, renamed and reopened.

Thanks for the update Danny.

Like you said; it sounds like the main property to the Sahara will still be there, but it will be remodeled and renamed.

Wiki mentions that only three of the original hotel casinos are in Vegas now after the closing of the Sahara...

Its closure leaves only the Tropicana, Flamingo and the Riviera remaining from the post-World War II era.
