Default Sunbathers Being Baked by Reflective Glass at Vdara Hotel

I heard that a lot of people who have tried to enjoy the swimming pool outside of the Vdara Hotel in CityCenter have been baked by the sun because of the reflective glass on the south side of the building.

They have dubbed the problem as being fried by a "death ray".

The reflective glass, which is meant to help keep the heat out of the building, actually makes the sun reflect intensly down on the swimming pool area.

It is said that the reflective energy is actually enough to singe hair and melt plastic cups.

They had thought that it might cause a problem so they put a light-scattering film on the glass but apparently it isn't working.

I guess they have another solution in the works.

Singe hair and melt plastic cups, can you imagine what that is doing to your skin? It would be like being in a tanning bed for hours instead of minutes and too much sun can do irreversible damage to a persons skin, not to mention the risk in later years of skin cancer.

Seems to me that they need to hurry up with the fix for this problem before everyone gets sue happy.

That is just absolutely mind boggling that this can singe hair and actually melt plastic cups.

A really quick fix is needed here, thats for sure.

Who's the rocket scientist that designed the place? Even kids know what happens to ants and other items when they're put under a magnifying glass in the sun.

But seriously, I never understood people's fascination with tanning. I can appreciate a good day out at the pool and all, but for those that spend hours upon hours in the sun or in a tanning booth...well, I just don't get it. The sun (artificial or not) ages you tremendously, plus there's the chance of getting skin cancer (melanoma) very easily. Just because you use some sort of sunblock lotion or whatever, that's not going to protect you completely. Just like using condoms isn't 100%.

Got that right beaston. I have an idea with those reflective windows...

Put a tint on them, you know, tinted windows. The sun will not get through as much, plus it won't bake the poor souls in the pool.

I like the way the Mirage has their windows tinted and they usually have some type of advertising banner on them which helps block the sun, too.

Lol IluvVegas, can you imagine melting plastic cups and singe hair!!!! Thats nuts! My flat iron doesn't singe my hair and it gets like a bagazillion degrees hot lol! How do people even attempt to enjoy the pool, even for one minute if it's that bad!!! I guess what has made it so bad is because the building is curved. It just blasts the sun right down onto the pool area. Crazy for sure and yea, they better get it fixed fast!
