Picking a slot is rather hard especially in a landbased casino.

When I go to our local casino, I walk around a bit to see which games seem to be getting the most hits and then try a couple of the machines in that bank of machines. If one is louder than the others then thats the one I will play as they seem to hit more often and I wonder sometimes if the sound isnt turned up to call attention to the wins.

Online, I tend to stick to my favorites also but do limit the amount of money that I spend trying to get a hit. If it doesnt hit within $5, I change games. And try another $5 until I find one that will double my money within that original $5. If it does, then thats the machine I stick with.

You have a good point there IluvVegas and I generally play the same way you do.

In a land based casino I will first look around and see if my favorite games are available to play and put in some credits.
If I don't find one of my favorites I will just pick a machine that catches my eyes.
I normally start out with a low bet amount with 2 coins selected and move up the bets if the machine's not hitting for me at first.
I'll find an amount that the machine seems to more give coins back and stick with that bet for a while or until it stops giving credits.

I play my online games a bit differently.
I will make a bet no more than five times and if I don't get something in return, I'll either change the bet amount or move on to another machine.

In landbased casinos, they say to pick a machine by the entrance or by the cashier or one of the money exchange machines. Their reasoning is that if the people using the cashier, or the money exchange machines, or are just coming into the casino see someone winning, that they will be more apt to spend more money.

I always look for machines that have the volume higher than the surrounding machines as these can be heard a goodly distance when they do hit. And this seems to work well for me.

Online, I tend to stick with my favorite casinos. Like Inetbet etc.

Picking a casino slot machine can be tough because there are so many to choose from. Start out by thinking about how much money you are able to spend and how long you will be there. Once you have figured out how much to spend that narrows down the slot machines by quite a bit. After that begin to look at the slot machines that you are interested in. Don't limit yourself to just one slot machine. If you have enjoyed yourself on one slot machine and have made a profit, try walking around and finding another one to make money off of.

I have no patience and therefore, pretty much no strategy lol. You have to have some patience to operate within a strategy. Heck I can't sit still for five minutes. If that machine doesn't hit quickly then I'm moving on lol. Maybe thats why I rarely win????? lol

Yea, that could be exactly why you dont win Vegasrocks. I think that a good rule of thumb when playing slots is to put $10 in the machine and if you havent doubled your money before losing it all then move to another machine.

But what is really aggrevating is when you do give up on a machine and the next person that sits down there wins like crazy. Go figure. Lol

Be a little more patient, play a little longer, then move if it doesnt hit.

Whether you play slots online or live at the land based casino, we all look for the slot machine that will hopefully pay out more.
Here are some useful tips to select the best slot machine:

1 First you have to decide whether you want to play on a penny machine, a nickel machine, a quarter machine, or a dollar machine.

2 Look at the total amount of lines that you are able to play on the machine and the total amount of credits that you are able to bet.

3 You should always bet for the maximum number of lines even if you only wish to gain minimum number of credits.

4 Every machine commonly shows what the last payout was. So while selecting the slot machines to play try to notice which machines have paid and how much they have paid.

5 Decide what type of reward you are looking for from the slot machine. Do you want machine that rewards you with bonus games, bonus free spins or some extra credits.

I can agree with most of those useful tips allenhall15, with the exception of "3".

I was playing the Wolf Run slot a couple years in a Las Vegas casino and played its maximum lines, 40.
I got some good hits on the machine but ended up losing about $10 or so on it, then moved on to another machine.

A friend of mine went to the same Wolf Run slot machine I had played not 15 minutes earlier, dropped in $20 and lowered the 40-lines to 30-lines.

He spent a couple minutes on this slot machine and hit a $600 payout!

That was playing just 3/4 of of the avaiable lines, or 30 lines out of the maximum of 40 lines. He ended up cashing out over $800 from the machine that day.

I tried playing 30 lines the next day on a Wolf Run game and it gave better payouts for me.
And needless to say, I cashed out while I was ahead.

Another way to pick slot machines is to look for the ones with brand new games. These new games tend to hit more frequently during the first week or so that they have been installed.

I played a new slot night before last at our local casino and won well over a hundred dollars which gave me money to try a couple of other new games.

Give this a try and see if it works for you too and then come back and let us know your results.
