Default Slot Machine Myths

1.Someone hit a jackpot on the machine you just left, you would have gotten that jackpot if you would of kept playing.

2.You can tell the odds of winning by counting the symbols on each wheel.

3.Casinos can loosen or tighten the slot machines with the flip of a switch.

4.A machine that has not been paying is due for a hit.

5. The temperature of the coins being played will affect the way a machine pays.

6.If you use your slot club card the machine will pay back less.

Someone hitting the jackpot right after you leave a machine can be down right infuriating. But that doesnt mean that had you sat there and played longer that you would have hit it.

Take into consideration that different people play slot machines differently. Some just keep pushing the spin button and others push the button then push it again to stop the spin.

Plus, each person bets differently. So the machine may have been due to hit on a certain bet and it probably wasnt the one you were playing.

But dont become discouraged. Your day to hit the jackpot will come.

There are a whole lot of myths about slot machines and the simple fact of the matter is that slot machines are the one form of gambling that really can not be predicted.they are all set to give a certain percentage of winnings and there is no telling when each machine will give one and how much it will give when it does.

i have studied the slots for a little while now and every where I look I find the same answer that I just gave you to this question.

Although the ones closest to a crowd are usually ones that tend to win the most because the casino wants others to see the machine paying out.

3.Casinos can loosen or tighten the slot machines with the flip of a switch.
I still think they can. The payouts used to be a big part of the advertising, and I still see it around here in Midwest.

4.A machine that has not been paying is due for a hit.
Anything that's "due" beside a bill payment is a falsehood. The Cubs are due to win the World Series.

5. The temperature of the coins being played will affect the way a machine pays. I haven't seen a slot machine that takes coins in years,

6.If you use your slot club card the machine will pay back less.
The last time I played I used my card and won 138.00 in just a few spins. Not sure though. I only have 26 points on my card.

I was just reading up on the subject. Included are my comments....

I've played at a certain casino that would hit best about 1 hour after they cleared the money and the slot machines (if they clear the mahines, it looks like they do).
That is usually between midnight and 3:00am.

I could put $20 in one machine and cash out $35-$40, move to the next machine and do the same thing.

Though I noticed that my winning streaks during the time frame only last about an hour, and then I start losing money.

Call it a myth, but I call it reality (this was a few years ago, so the timing may have changed).

I think it's naturally for people to try to make order out of chaos, so these myths will continue to live on even if the truth is staring us right in the face. Even if it's not mathematically possible. Even if the casino comes right out and says it can loosen or tighten at will. Even random number generators have to hit a jackpot once in a while--and I would venture a bet that when they do, the person who won will try to repeat exactly what he or she did to win it. And soon we'll have other urban myths to de-bunk, like kissing the slot machine before spinning the reels or changing the amount of your bet three times or doing the Macarena.

Isn't the not really knowing what makes it so fun?

As vegas40 talk about some myths in slot machines, these myths are not true at this time. The slot machines have a computer chip inside that runs the Random Number Generator. The RNG is continuously cycling through numbers even when the machine is not being played. The slot machine is not affected by the temperature. It doesn't matter if you play hot, cold, old or new coins. The coin slot is a mechanical device and has no feeling. In my opinion, the last myth is most damaging myth of them all. There is no link between the card reader and the RNG.

You're probably right jacksonwhite, but (I hate when the but comes out) my wife stopped using her casino points card several times at a couple casinos and she noticed better hits on those machines without using a card.

I've tried a few machines without my casino points card before and noticed the game seemed to play different, but I like my points to add up for free meals so I keep them in while playing.

I guess we could call it luck if machines act differently when we change our game play and notice more payouts.

What do you call it when this happens on nearly every machine? Luck, right?

Or, when all the machines start hitting at a certain time in the day. Is that luck too?

There are some more myths about slots machines mentioned below which are generally not true:-

Slot machines have a set pattern or sequence of spins that can be determined through careful and intense study.
Someone just sat down where I left and hit a big jackpot. If I would have just stayed a bit longer, it would have been mine.
I have played this machine for 5 (or 8 or 20) straight days and haven't hit the jackpot. It has to be ready to hit any time now.
Slot machines pay more often if I only bet one coin at a time.
I have a better chance to hit a jackpot when the casino is busy.
That machine just hit. It will not not produce another jackpot for a long time!
You can tell the odds of winning by counting the symbols on each wheel.
