Wiping the screens

I have a question.

Why do people always wipe the screens at a slot machine?

Every time I go to a casino, there is at least three or four people that I wind up sitting beside, that while the reels are spinning, they rub the screen like they are cleaning it.

At first when I started seeing this, I thought the screen was dirty, but It happens too often for that to be the cause.

Just was wondering why people did that. I knew this was the place to ask.

It's for good luck. I see particularly oriental ladies doing that, but a lot of other people do it too. It's quite a common superstition.

because they are idiots. lol. it is just a superstition.
